Abstract
Several Electronic Patient Journal (EPJ) systems are currently being developed separately by several Danish counties. At the same time the Danish Health Authority is developing a specification of EPJ systems. Unfortunately, little effort is spent trying to make these systems compatible, such that information may be transferred seamlessly between these systems.
In this project we develop requirements for an EPJ system and propose a simplified XML schema for information exchange. Also, we discuss the benefits obtained by requiring that all vendors of EPJ system must provide a common interface.
